Feast of Trumpets

Yom Teruah – יום תרועה– Day of Blowing

God gave us an appointment book, and called them feasts. It is very important to know them.

Leviticus 23:1-2 (KJV)
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, [Concerning] the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim [to be] holy convocations, [even] these [are] my feasts.

The word feast is actually the word mo’ed (מועד) meaning appointed time. The first time this is used is in Genesis 1:14 where in the KJV it’s translated seasons, it’s literally appointed times. Speaking of the sun and moon, God said, “…and let them be for signs, and for appointed times, and for days, and years”. Seasons, spring, summer, fall, winter, didn’t even exist until after the fall, maybe even after the flood! Islam uses just the lunar cycle for their calendar, the West uses only the solar cycle for their calendar, but the Jews still follow the instructions of God and use both the solar and lunar cycles for their calendar. Yet, they still missed His signs!

These feasts are to be proclaimed forever because they speak of the Lord Jesus, a dress rehearsal (the meaning of the word convocation is literallydress rehearsal!) of His life, so all can recognize Him.

  • Jesus was born on the Feast of Tabernacles, 15 Tishri
  • Jesus died on Passover, 14 Nisan
  • Jesus was buried on Feast of Unleavened Bread, 15 Nisan
  • Jesus rose from the dead on the Feast of First Fruits, 17 Nisan
  • God gave the Law to Moses and the Holy Spirit to the church on Pentecost, 6 Sivan

There are two feasts left, Feast of Trumpets, 1 Tishri and Day of Atonement, 10 Tishri. The Day of Atonement is when Jesus will do according to the meaning of the word: the reconciliation between God and man, and lift the curse and set up His kingdom on earth for 1000 years, Revelation 20:6. So what is the Feast of Trumpets?

Tishri is the name of the seventh month – originally was the first month until the Exodus when God changed the first month to Nisan, Exodus 12:2. Tishri 1 is when the calendar year changes number. It is not connected to any historical event, even after Jesus’ time on earth. The same is said for the Day of Atonement. Tishri 1 is also known as “the day in which no man can know the day or the hour” because it must be proclaimed. A hint from Jesus’ own words perhaps, Matthew 24:36. First, two witnesses need to see the new moon. Then the council will determine if the day (1 Tishri) falls on a Sabbath or causes any other feast day to fall on a Sabbath. If so, it is postponed until the next day or even a second day. Hence the reason no one can know the day or the hour! Now 1 Tishri, because of the diaspora, dispersing of the Jews to Babylon, this day is also called the One Long Day because they’d light fires to notify the next hill who’d like a fire to the next hill, all the way to Babylon. As such, no one knows the day or the hour in which it started. Even the devil doesn’t know when it begins, 1 Corinthians 2:8.

Leviticus 23:23-25 (KJV)
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first [day] of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work [therein]: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

The trumpet wasn’t the brass ones you see today, but a ram’s horn. Four distinct sounds, or calls, were made with it. The first one is called Tekiah, the Blast, and means Awake and to Praise God with the Tekiah, Number 10:3. The next one is called the Shevarim, three blasts, meaning Broken, as in True Repentance, Broken before God, Numbers 10:5. The third one is called Teruah and means Alarm, Numbers 10:9. The sound is intended to alert the hearer to danger or an event. The fourth sound is called the Tekiah haGadolah and means the Great Blast, and is to be blown until out of breath, the long blast, Exodus 19:16, 19. You can hear them here http://abdicate.net/shofar.mp4 . The shofar is blow 100 times. The three sounds are blown and repeated 3 times making a series of 9 blasts. This is repeated 11 times, making 99 and the end, the Great Blast, is also known as the Last Trump! The last trump is Rosh haShana, the First Trump is known as Pentecost, Great Trump is the Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) because it is when the Year of Jubilee is declared.

Notice the progression of the types of trumps: Awake, Repent, Pay Attention, Event! This is also the meaning of these three fall feast:

  • 1 Tishri, Repent
  • 10 Tishri, Redeem
  • 15 Tishri, Rejoice!

1 Tishri has many names:

  • Rosh haShanna – Head of the Year
  • Yom Teruah – Day of Blowing
  • Yom haDin – the Day of Judgment
  • Yom haKeseh – the Hidden Day
  • Yom haKiddushin – Wedding Day
  • Yom haMelech – Day of the King
  • Yom Ziccaron Teruah – Day of Remembrance Blast
  • Opening of the Books
  • Opening of the Gates
  • Day of the Awakening Blast
  • Feast of Trumpets

No reason is given for this feast. Apparently, the reason was self-evident. In his book The Jewish Festivals, Rabbi S. M. Lehrman notes that Rosh haShanna is “…the picture of a Day of Judgment on which all mortals pass before the Heavenly Throne to give an account of their deeds and to receive the promise of mercy.” Just like the bailiff cries out “Hear ye! Hear ye! The Honorable Judge of the Universe presiding,” and beginning the ten days of trial. After which, man is reconciled to God, then God dwells with man! However, whereas this day is holy for His people, it is a gloomy day for those that reject God, Joel 2:1-2! Also check out Joel 1:15, Zeph 1:14-15, Amos 5:18.

For those that are His people, let’s look at the usage of the shofar (ram’s horn trumpet) in the scriptures:

Exodus 19:10-13 (KJV)
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes, And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai. And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, [that ye] go [not] up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death: There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether [it be] beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.

Exodus 19:16-19 (KJV)
And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that [was] in the camp trembled. And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

In Joshua 6; we see that the city of Jericho was shut up and Israel could not possess the land.

Joshua 6:2-5 (KJV)
And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, [and] the mighty men of valour. And ye shall compass the city, all [ye] men of war, [and] go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. And seven priests shall bear before the arkseven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long [blast] with the ram’s horn, [and] when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

What an amazing picture these verses depict! Notice where else the shout and trumpet is used:

1 Corinthians 15:52-53 (KJV)
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (KJV)
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

What a comfort!!! Paul is quoting this verse:

Psalms 47:5-9 (KJV)
God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises. For God [is] the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding. God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness. The princes of the people are gathered together, [even] the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth [belong] unto God: he is greatly exalted.

Shout: Teruah! Trumpet: Shofar! Last trump is called Tekiah haGadolah and is played on 1 Tishri! Notice this:

Zechariah 9:14 (KJV)
And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.

Psalms 89:15 (KJV)

Blessed [is] the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

Sound is the word Teruah! The signal, the alarm! Those that are His will hear it and know!

1 Corinthians 14:8 (KJV)

For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

But when this day of trumpet arrives for the lost, it is a day of judgment:

Zephaniah 1:14-16 (KJV)

The great day of the LORD [is] near, [it is] near, and hasteth greatly, [even] the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. That day [is] a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

A day of the trumpet and alarm: Yom Sofar and Teruah! Here’s Jesus’ parable of the Ten Virgins in the Hebrew Scriptures is found in Daniel 12:1-3 and in Matthew 24:7-8, the Greek word here for sorrows is birth pangs. So the day of the Lord is not a good day for those that do not know God, Amos 5:20.

Notice in Revelation 17:5 the woman is the mother of harlots. Speaking of the Antichrist Daniel 11:32 says he will corrupt the covenant with flatteries but the people of God will be strong and do exploits. Proverbs 7:1-3 says we’re to keep the teachings of God in our heart. Torah means teaching, not Law, and literally means to hit the mark. Sin literally means to miss the mark. Now look at the rest, Proverbs 7:4-10, says it’ll keep you from the strange woman with flattering words! Also notice that the simpleton goes to her house in the black and dark night, the time of Jacob’s trouble, and met the woman dressed as a harlot. Now look at verses Proverbs 7:13-15 where she’s a religious person having finished her vows and sought after the simpleton.

Now look at Mark 13:34 where Jesus is like One on a long far away journey. In Matthew 25:14-15, where the kingdom of heaven is like as a man traveling into a far country, giving His servants money and authority. Matthew 20 shows where Jesus is the householder, the good Man of the house. Go back to Proverbs 7:18-20 and see what it says:

Proverbs 7:18-20 (KJV)

Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves. For the goodman [is] not at home, he is gone a long journey: He hath taken a bag of money with him, [and] will come home at the day appointed.

Everyone is trying to figure out the times, yet here it is for all to see who wish to see. The devil has already changed the times (Daniel 7:25) by leading us to follow the Pope Gregory’s calendar – Gregorian calendar, rather than the Scriptural calendar where we can see the day appointed.

The words day appointed in Proverbs is Yom Kece meaning the day of the full moon. What feasts fall on the day of the full moon? The feast of the full moon, 15 Nisan, is when Jesus was buried. The other feast of the full moon is 15 Tishri, Feast of Tabernacles, Jesus’ birthday! In other words, Proverbs 7:20 states that when Jesus returns, He’ll set up His kingdom on 15 Tishri, the day appointed, feast of the full moon!

But, you say, Jesus comes as a thief in the night. Not to those watching and alive, but those dead in the church. Revelation 3:1-3 states that if the dead church does not watch, I will come unto you as a thief! The same warning to the church of Laodicea who don’t even know they are poor, blind, naked and miserable! Jesus warns again:

Revelation 16:15 (KJV)
Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed [is] he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

In the Jewish tradition, the High Priest was called the one that would come as a thief in the night because he’d sneak up to the night watchman and if he found them asleep, he would go and get coals and set their garments on fire, they’d wake up and throw off their garments and run away naked!

Now read Matthew 25:8-13 and Luke 12:37-48! Peter asked if this was for the world or for them. Jesus plainly states it’s for the Man’s servant who is not watching! Matthew 16:3 shows that the Jews didn’t see the signs nor understand them, Luke 19:44. 1 Chronicles 12:32 shows that Issachar knew the times. Seeing all these links, now read what Paul says to the faithful!

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 (KJV)
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

We as Christians are to help the Jews see these appointed times, Ezekiel 33; Jeremiah 6:10, Acts 7:51.

Isaiah 58:1 (KJV)

Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

Remember the old paths, the appointed times.

Jeremiah 6:16-17 (KJV)
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where [is] the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk [therein].Also I set watchmen over you, [saying], Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

The rest of the chapter talks about the tribulation period!

Notice what happens to the faithful, those that are watching and waiting:

Daniel 12:2 (KJV)
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame [and] everlasting contempt.

Isaiah 26:19-21 (KJV)
Thy dead [men] shall live, [together with] my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew [is as] the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

Psalms 98:4-9 (KJV)

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm. With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King. Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. Let the floods clap [their] hands: let the hills be joyful together before the LORD; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

So let’s go back to the beginning where God set up His schedule:

Genesis 1:14 (KJV)

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

The first thing the sun, moon and stars are for is for signs. This word signs can be translated sign, signal, a distinguishing mark, banner, remembrance, miraculous sign, omen, warning, token, ensign, standard, miracle, and proof. Do not think for a moment this is astrology (interpreted as having an influence on human affairs and the natural world) but only for what God has said signs.

1 Tishri also marks the beginning of the Sabbatical year (shemita) and the year of Jubilee, and the trumpet is sounded on 10 Tishri, Leviticus 25:8-9, mark that that year is the year of Jubilee. And in Jewish tradition 1 Tishri was the day in which Abraham bound up Isaac to sacrifice him. When Abraham proved himself to God, God provided a ram who was caught by its HORN!! The shofar is a ram’s horn! Who is Isaac a symbol of? Jesus! So when the shofar is blown on 1 Tishri it’s to remind God of the promise (which the Jews missed) and to us of the finished work of Jesus as He moves from the seat of judgment to the seat of mercy, Numbers 10:10, Isaiah 44:23-24, Psalms 32:10-11, Psalms 47:1-9!

Note an interesting word. The first word of the scriptures is בראשׁית and means in the beginning, and literally means in head [of time] mark, as inGenesis, in beginning, in source, in onset, in inception. Like when NASA says, “Start the count down, mark!” Rearrange the letters and you get תשׁרי בא, Tishri Come! If you put a space after the tav (ת), you have Mark [and] Abide [the] Coming! Philippians 1:24 and 1 John 2:24-25! Tav is what God said in Ezekiel 9:4 would be what is used to mark the worthy, Revelation 7:3 and 9:4! Tav is also the symbol that is portrayed when the lamb’s blood is put on the sides and lintel of the door!

We know this day is also the day when the Lord comes to rule the earth because on a 30-day monthly calendar, from Passover to Feast of Trumpets is 1260 days! Jesus died on Passover, the Antichrist will kill the Two Witnesses, and execute the abomination of desolation on Passover, and then in 1260 days Jesus returns to rule for 1000 years. The Two Witness preach for 1260 days, Revelation 11:3, and Israel is to flee to the mountains and abide there 1260 days, Revelation 12:6. Add the two together and you get 7 years. 2520 days after the arrival of the Two Witnesses, Jesus returns. 1 Tishri is a dual meaning day!

Psalms 102:13 (KJV)

Thou shalt arise, [and] have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.

Time in this verse is mo’ed.

Psalms 102:18 (KJV)

This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.

The words generation to come is literally last generation.

Job 24:1 (KJV)

Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days?

Whether the Lord comes on this day or not, always look up! And as the Feast of Trumpets arrives this Wednesday night, 09/24/2014, let’s look up and pray this is the year He comes! Maranatha – Come Lord! :)

Luke 21:28 (KJV)

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Take the Kingdom of God by Force

There are only two primal feelings in us: love and fear. First fear. Fear is the opposite of faith. Fear is natural, but it comes from ignorance of the situation or knowledge that in “that” situation something bad happened and you fear out of experience. Because of this you’re frustrated and because you’re tired of being frustrated you store it within “trying to control it” and having that stored anger will grow and eventually bubbles up as rage. When you explode you then ask yourself, “why/how did that happen!?” And you become angry because you got angry and the cycle starts up “replenishing” the anger you lost when you blew up. Fear begins because you feel you’re not in control and the lack of control builds anger. It’s a loop of lies continually building. Nanosecond events or vivid lengthy events build up on this foundation of fear. Sow & Reap. Here’s an example:

When I was 11, my dad came with me to my room to chat and I literally jumped into bed like I always did. My dad asked me why I jumped into bed. I thought about it (having never done that before on the subject) and it came to mind that I was fearful of standing next to the bed, but I didn’t understand why. (I had to be honest with myself otherwise I would not have understood that.) My dad told me he knew why. When I was 3 I had a babysitter that got angry because I wouldn’t stay in bed, so she told me there were bugs under the bed that would hurt me if I got out. She recounted the story to my parents. All those years later and I was still afraid – why wouldn’t I be? I trusted what I was told. I had no concept of deception at the age of 3. I don’t recall the incident, but my heart did. But once I knew the truth and how silly it was, I never jumped onto the bed again. I was free of this fear.

All fear is the same. It is the result of not having the correct information. In my case it was being lied to. In other’s it can be from a traumatic event in one’s life – like war, whether actual military war, or war in the house between your parents. In still other cases it’s believing a fleshy thought or a lie by the enemy that “God doesn’t love you”.

The honest reality is we are not in control no matter how arrogantly we think we are. God is totally in control and He will always guide His to the truth and the truth will set you free if you’re honest enough with yourself to listen to the Holy Spirit when you inquire of Him why you are so. This is exactly what David did in Psa 139:23-24. As a child of God you’re already a new creature, no change required. You just have to believe WHO you are in Christ. You, like all of us, have an identity crisis. It’s time to believe the word of God and reject the lies floating in your head that is affecting your beliefs of your heart. You can think all the positive things you want, but until you get them into your heart, your beliefs will always overrule your thoughts. I can say “I am healed by His stripes” in my head and even out my own mouth, but if my heart say “yea right” NOTHING will change. I will remain sick. There’s no “trying” you either DO or you DON’T do. What does one DO? Believe. That’s only done in the heart, not the head. It starts in the head – like planting a seed – if you plant negative doubt then doubt is what will grow in your heart regardless of what your head says. If you plant truth in faith, then faith will grow in your heart regardless of what your head says!

How is one saved? By grace, yes, but it’s faith (aka trust in God’s ability). Paul asked three times to have the thorn in the flesh removed and what did God say? His grace is sufficient. We quickly judge the passage incorrectly by saying “oh well, he tried, but God said no.” But if you know what grace is – unmerited favor – how can remaining ill be favor? So if grace means unmerited favor, and it does, then what could that passage mean? Easy, time to dissect a verse. Paul says:

Galatians 2:21 (KJV)
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Frustrate:
– Original: ἀθετέω
– Transliteration: Atheteo
– Phonetic: ath-et-eh’-o
– Definition:
1. to do away with, to set aside, disregard
2. to thwart the efficacy of anything, nullify, make void, frustrate
3. to reject, to refuse, to slight

Righteous:
– Original: δικαιοσύνη
– Transliteration: Dikaiosune
– Phonetic: dik-ah-yos-oo’-nay
– Definition:
1. in a broad sense: state of him who is as he ought to be, righteousness, the condition acceptable to God
a. the doctrine concerning the way in which man may attain a state approved of God
b. integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking feeling, and acting
2. in a narrower sense, justice or the virtue which gives each his due

So which of these is this talking about? Righteousness is a state of being as you ought to be. To frustrate is to disregard, set aside, nullify. So when Paul said he did not frustrate the grace of God, he was saying he learned from God that His grace (His favor) was sufficient, which told Paul that Paul was at fault. God has given us EVERYTHING pertaining to life, we just have to believe in the heart.

Why are miracles not more readily available? Lack of belief in the heart – not the head. Our real beliefs of the heart either confirm or nullify God’s grace.

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

So, now you have to:

1 Timothy 6:12 (KJV)
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Lay hold means take, grab hold of, take possession, take by force… sound familiar?

Matthew 11:12 (KJV)
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Though it’s not the same word, you’ll be shocked to learn it. ALL translations have it wrong and the Plain Aramaic is the closest to it’s meaning:

“From the days of Yohannan The Baptizer until this hour the Kingdom of Heaven is led by force and the violent are seizing it.”

Get TheWord.Net software and see the Greek for yourself. This verse means:

The Kingdom of Heaven is seized and the strong snatch it up*!

(*hapatzo the same word Paul uses for the great “catching away”! )

So if you want what God has to offer, YOU must be strong in belief and snatch it up and seize it! See why you have to do your own homework? How powerful is God’s word to get us to where we are free in this life, not skipping hard-to-understand verses like in church!

Be free! You already are, you just have to believe it! That is love, because He first loved US!

Romans 8:32 (KJV)
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Matthew 27:46 (KJV)
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

So here we have the translation within the verse, but it used to be a great distressful verse for me. I could not reconcile first, with the fact of Who Jesus is, and second, with why would God cry out like that to God? I’ve heard ALL the explanations – The Father cannot be in the presence of sin – but then Jesus and the Father wouldn’t be One as Jesus had said, John 10:30.

FINALLY! I have the answer and it’s so amazing – to me!

Up until 1551 (NT) and 1571 (OT) the scriptures did not have numbers associated with the verses. In Jesus’ day if they wanted a specific chapter to read, they’d quote the first verse (sentence) since those of the synagogues all knew by heart the OT from cover to cover. So on the cross Jesus yells out by this verse “Read Psalms 22!”

Psalms 22:1 (KJV)
To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? [why art thou so] far from helping me, [and from] the words of my roaring?

Jesus was proclaiming while it was happening that He was fulfilling Psalms 22! Jesus wasn’t yelling at the Father, as even those that heard Him believed, Matt 27:47-48! Now look at this verse in Psalms 22:

Psalms 22:6 (KJV)
But I [am] a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

This isn’t just any worm, but a tolaw (תּולע coccus ilics) which lays its eggs deposited under her on a tree where she fixed herself so strongly she’d never leave and die there for her eggs. Upon dying, a crimson fluid would stain her and the tree trunk around her. Here Jesus is saying I’m covered with crimson blood dying for you so you can be BORN AGAIN! OH WOW!!!

That’s the power of going to the originals. Usually, if something doesn’t sit well, it’s the Holy Spirit telling you to look into it deeper or reject the teaching.

It’s not what people use it to mean. Forgiveness isn’t for the offender, but for the offended. Indeed this is a huge subject. Definition first:

Forgive in Hebrew:

– Original: נשׂא
– Transliteration: Nasa’
– Phonetic: naw-saw’
– Definition:
1. to lift, bear up, carry, take

In Greek:
– Original: ἀφίημι
– Transliteration: Aphiemi
– Phonetic: af-ee’-ay-mee
– Definition:
1. to send away
a. to bid going away or depart

Very interesting. To forgive is to carry away, to bid going away. Here’s how this applies. Let’s start with this verse:

Proverbs 18:8 (KJV)
The words of a talebearer [are] as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

…are as wounds… this is so true that every child is almost taught “sticks and stone may break my bones but words will never hurt” and that is a big fat lie. It’s a failed attempt to make a negative situation a positive. But here we have the word of God that says otherwise. They ARE as wounds. Furthermore, it’s not just a momentary hurt but those wounds go down into the innermost parts of the belly! What does that mean? It goes to the heart. The heart is more than the pump that circulates the blood, it is where we keep the records of our events. The mind is used to analyze events in our lives, but it’s the conclusions that are kept in our bodies, in every cell, rightly or wrongly judged. When David asked to search his heart Psa 139:23-24this is what he was talking about. Our judgments of events in our lives are stored and will affect us if we do not send it away – forgive. Those feelings will rot out where ever they were stored. Here’s an example:

There was a friend of mine that had chronic sinus infections and spent thousands trying to discover the problem. Nothing. Then one day I asked her, “Did anything happen to you as a child?” She hung up the phone. Three hours later she called back and explained a horrible childhood with an unbelievably brutal mother. I told her she needed to forgive her mother. She hung up again. Three days later she called back trying to justify her hate of her mother. After a few hours of deep discussion she relented but said it was still impossible to forgive her because she had already died. I told what I said above: forgiveness is for the offended not the offender. She hung up civilly this time saying she had to think about it.

Days went by. She called back and said she cried and cried but she forgave her mother. A few more days went by and she called back saying her sinus infection had gone! That was 5 years ago and she’s been free ever since.

Mark 11:26 (KJV)
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

1 John 2:12 (KJV)
I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.

How can these two verses not be a contradiction? One is conditional and the other isn’t. So which is it? (These are rhetorical questions, I’ll answer them.) Indeed, as Christians, our sins are completely forgiven, and we have access to abundant grace. So, did Jesus lie? God forbid! So it means only one thing: His words are not understood (surprise!).

God’s grace is sufficient, 2 Cor 12:9 So what is grace? Unmerited favor. Salvation means freedom from stress – all, not just the change of destination after death. But you can look that one up. So… why if we have this wonderful superabundant grace are there still illnesses in the body of Christ? Time for more understanding:

Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV)
The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?

So we saw before the wounds go down to the innermost part of the belly. The word heart here means the inner man, mind, will, heart, understanding, the inner part, midst. Belly also means the seat of mental faculties. This is very interesting because remember your first love, where did it hurt? In the belly right? All the feelings go there. When someone is deeply upset they don’t want to eat. If these where just mental issues alone, why does it affect the belly like the word of God says? Because it’s true.

Here’s Youngs Literal of the verse above:

Jeremiah 17:9 (YLT)
Crooked [is] the heart above all things, And it [is] incurable–who doth know it?

When events are buried inside us, we don’t even recognize their reaction to other events as being connected. Have you ever totally lost it and not know why, or how that could happen to you? That’s a buried, festering, feeling in response to an event. It requires the Holy Spirit in meditation of His word to weed that out and send it away – forgive. This is why the question is asked, who can know it? Only God can because we’ve buried it! But once He tells you about it, you must then act on that information and send away the hurt. This is what they do for PTSD soldiers. They get them to acknowledge and release the pain, walk through and get rid of those feelings. This is what doctors do for children who cannot express themselves, they have them draw out the traumatic event. If you ignore those feelings it will only manifest itself as an illness 20, 30, 50 years later, because you don’t use what God gives you – grace. That grace will give you the power to overcome all those negative feelings. And because you deal with those transgression against you – send away, forgive -, God can heal (forgive, send away) your transgressions – meaning He now has YOUR permission to deal with your issues.

Here’s why that verse is translated so.

John 20:19-23 (KJV)
Then the same day at evening, being the first [day] of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace [be] unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them [his] hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace [be] unto you: as [my] Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on [them], and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; [and] whose soever [sins] ye retain, they are retained.

So Jesus shows up, say “Peace” tells them He sends them like His Father did to Him, gives them the Holy Spirit and then talks about “remit”. Hallelujah! It’s the same word for SEND AWAY translated elsewhere as forgive!

Here’s the Message’s translation:
John 20:22-23 (MSG) Then he took a deep breath and breathed into them. “Receive the Holy Spirit,” he said. “If you forgive someone’s sins, they’re gone for good. If you don’t forgive sins, what are you going to do with them?

He’s saying, if you don’t send away the sins of others – from where? YOU! – then what are you going to do with them seeing they’re going to reside in your BELLY!!!

If you forgive, then God can heal you. Where’s that in the bible you say?

Galatians 2:21 (KJV)
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

The word frustrate means to do away with, to set aside, disregard, to thwart the efficacy of anything, nullify, make void, frustrate! Here you go, if you reject the grace of God you’re NULLIFYING it! And if you nullify you’re canceling it out. So now you can understand the meaning of:

Mark 11:26 (KJV)
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

If you do not send away (because you reject, nullify the grace given to you), neither can your Father send away yours because YOU won’t release them!! It’s all cause and effect!

That’s what forgiveness is! I die daily. I renew my mind. I send away, not cover up, those negative, festering feelings. This is the meaning of 2 Cor 10:5!

Once you get rid of them, the way to maintain it is Phil 4:8!

I hope this LONG (yet very short) study of forgiveness helps someone! Praise God!

John 8:32 (KJV)
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Scroll of the Testimony

Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, [and] I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Ok, first let me say, many are not going to like what I’m going to say because the devil has hijacked this truth and many immediately reject it, but it’s better than Calvinism. I’m sure this will be too much meat but this isn’t a milk question, 1 Cor 3:2; Heb 5:12. So let’s start at the beginning and use our brains.

Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

God breathed the breath of life into clay and made a living soul. (NOTE: if Adam was predestinated to be innocent, God would not have made the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil to give him a choice!) Well, that explains Adam, but what about Able? Or you or me? So where did our “breath” come from? The word breath in Hebrew is נְשָׁמָה (nshamah) and means:

1. breath, spirit

a. breath (of God)
b. breath (of man)
c. every breathing thing
d. spirit (of man)

In Greek

ψυχή psuche
a. the breath of life
1. the vital force which animates the body and shows itself in breathing

Then we have this verse talking about death:

Ecclesiastes 12:7 (KJV)
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

The word spirit here has many meanings, but I use the definition: the energy of life, as gift, preserved by God, God’s spirit, departing at death, disembodied being.

So we see right off that the spirit comes from God and returns to God regardless of what happens on earth and our bodies turn to dust after this spirit is removed. So, that leaves what was made, the soul – נֶפֶשׁ. Interestingly, the meaning of each letter is: seed (or life), mouth, God (or consumes). Neat how it literally means the life from God is consumed by the mouth

We are created spirit beings and made humans at conception, the spark of life. God wants the soul and body to be saved WITH the spirit!

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (KJV)
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It’s easy to equate all reference to “spirit” as the Holy Spirit, but Jesus had a spirit independent of the Holy Spirit which did not rest on Him until His baptism, Mat 3:16. Even the unsaved have a spirit because that is the life of the body! In fact there are seven spirits:

Revelation 1:4 (KJV)
John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace [be] unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come;and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

Revelation 3:1 (KJV)
And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

Revelation 4:5 (KJV)
And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and [there were] seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God

Revelation 5:6 (KJV)
And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth

Those seven spirits are:

Isaiah 11:2 (KJV)
And the spirit of the LORD {Abdicate: this is the Holy Spirit} shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD

These seven spirits are what seals the scroll of your life.

Revelation 5:1 (KJV)
And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book {Abdicate: also scroll} written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.

The book in Revelation is the scroll of the Lamb which could only be opened by the Lamb through these seven spirits because they gave Him wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge and fear of the LORD and rested on Him, while he was here on the Earth in the flesh. By the Spirit He fulfilled the law in the flesh. This is how we are to walk in the Spirit (via the seven spirits that teach us all truth.) We all have a scroll in our hearts, the scroll of our testimony, a plan from God, to fulfill His will, given to us before the foundation of the earth. This shows we are created spirits with a mission which require us to get saved (come alive, quicken) in the body:

Psalms 119:88 (KJV)
Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.

Psalms 40:7-8 (KJV)
Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book [it is] written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law [is] within my heart.

Romans 8:11 (KJV)
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Once we are alive, we have a new desire, the desire to do God’s will, what’s written on our hearts, God’s plan. Why do you think it’s so easy to see very young children with so much life, free of fear, free of sin, and they seem to glow? Because the scroll of the heart is fresh and they speak the truth!

Psalms 8:2 (KJV)
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

We are taught to fear and hate and to sin, which also comes easily because it too is in our genes via Adam, and then we forget God’s plan. It’s easy to say that only the Ten Commandments are written in our hearts but the word law is literally teachings, so this is much more than just the workings of our conscience, but the plan God has for our lives.

The problem with these verses in Jeremiah is that people ignore other verses and jump to conclusion like: he had no choice. When you start down that path, then why preach the gospel at all? Since we have no choice we can do whatever we want! That’s the real danger of Calvinism. So if these verses don’t mean Jeremiah was forced to be a prophet, then what could it mean? What about common sense? There was a plan. A plan conceived by God fulfilled by Jeremiah.

Psalms 33:11 (KJV)
The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

The word thoughts here means intention, plan, a plot.

Psalms 139:13-16 (KJV)
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, [and] curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy bookall [my members] were written, [which] in continuance were fashioned, when [as yet there was] none of them.

These three verses are an amazing testament to our existence. They show we have a mission from before we were formed, given to us in the spirit and then that mission is written on our hearts.

Psalms 37:23 (KJV)
The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

The word ordered is established, firm, fixed, but the word man here isn’t adam or ish, but a warrior (גּבר geber). God has a plan for His soldiers, 2 Timothy 2:3, literally orders!

God has a plan for every living soul and when that soul refuses, He moves on to someone who will obey. If we were forced, then Adam never would have had the forbidden tree, and never would have sinned and we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Jesus learned obedience and did what He saw His Father do.

John 8:13-14 (KJV)
The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true. Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, [yet] my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.

Yes Jesus is God but He still had to learn, just as we do, through the Holy Spirit (and the seven spirits), 1 John 2:27. He learned the plan written on His heart, just as we must. This scroll in our heart can only be opened by us through the teachings of the seven spirits and it can take a lifetime to learn. It took Jesus about 30 years, Luke 3:23, to learn, Matt 26:39, and He had no sin, so imagine us.

Hebrews 5:8 (KJV)
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

Now I hope you better understand this verse:

Psalms 37:4 (KJV)
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

The desires of your heart, are the plans of God, not the fleshly desires to fill your wallet or garage or be famous, because when you first delight in the Lord, then your desire for the physical is diminished and change to the spiritual.

I hope you didn’t skim over this long comment, it is filled with stuff that will require the reader to meditate on.

The Pearl of Great Price

Matthew 13:45-46 (KJV)
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

To get a pearl the mollusk receives a foreign object within its tender flesh creating an irritant. As a reaction to the irritant, it secretes thousands of very thin concentric layers of nacre. The bigger the irritant the bigger the pearl. A pearl is created with a shimmering iridescence, luster and soft inner glow unlike any other gem on earth. Because the nacre is composed of microscopic crystals of calcium carbonate, aligned perfectly with one another, the light passing along the axis of one crystal is reflected and refracted by another to produce a rainbow of light and color. To extract that pearl the mollusk sometimes has to die.

How does this apply to us? Well Jesus is the Mollusk and we are the pearl! We have a rainbow of promises that reflects the love of God. In Hebrew, the word for mollusk is רכיכה. The letter meanings are: Man, open hand, nail, open hand, grace! Jesus opened both His hands, nailed on the cross, for us to receive what was in those hands: Grace. Jesus gave His life to make us a pearl of great price with His tender flesh on the cross, Luke 22:19! His suffering made us, the irritating foreign object, into a shimmering pearl of His light.

When the pearl comes into contact with sweat the luster is lost. To restore it, you need only to wash it with water. When we come into contact with the works of the flesh Galatians 2:16; 5:19-21, we lose our luster 2 Corinthians 4:6, but we need only wash ourselves with the word of God, John 15:3; Ephesians 5:26-27. One last amazing thing from the Hebrew for mollusk is this verse:

Genesis 12:3 (KJV)
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

The highlighted words above in Hebrew is מברכיך (literally meaning who bless you). Who is it that will bless Israel the most? Jesus. Now when you take away the suffixes of מ (meaning from) and ב (meaning in) you have the word mollusk! This is the hidden mystery of the Church: from and within the mollusk! What is in and from the mollusk? A pearl, and from Jesus, a pearl of great price, the Church! Glory to God! You and me! Praise Jesus for His words and His love towards us.

Faith and sin (the Local Church)

There’s a forum I like to attend and there was a debate about attending church (building). This is what I said.

“Church”… well, it’s not a building, but people. I’m not a French or Dutch speakers so I am unable to attend a “local” church building and hang out with the Church. Yes, there’s an anglican church somewhere in Brussels but having visited them, they’re as dead as last weeks fish and my Spirit isn’t guiding me to go there. So here I am. I don’t consider this forum to be church but I learn things and share things like the Church is supposed to do. I don’t consider the mods to be my pastor as Jesus is my Pastor. I’ve attended home churches, mega churches, dead churches and holy roller shouting churches, but the best I ever had was when the Lord would call three couples, myself, my best friend and his friend and his girlfriend to go to an older couples home for “service”! No one called anyone, nothing was planned. We’d just get a desire to go and BOOM! THE body of Christ would come together and BE the Church! It was awesome! It was great! The Lord had us all stationed in a small Air Force base in Italy and there we met! As with any assignment, we were scattered to the winds but what a great two years! It changed my life in so many ways. It was during this time I KNEW God wanted to be a part of every aspect of our lives. Miracles happened. The word of God became alive not just as stories in a book called the Bible. We were living those stories! I feel very sad for those that treat the written word of God as metaphorical or allegorical, I used to too, until I experienced it for myself. Don’t make sweeping generalizations and expect them to stick, God is not a God of bondage, but of freedom and in peace. Do what He wants you to do in YOUR life and share it with us. The word of God is there for all in whatever state you’re in, that’s how powerful it is. What applies to you doesn’t always apply to others. What you see as sin may not be for another.

Romans 14:7-14 (KJV)
For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in [his] brother’s way. I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that [there is] nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him [it is] unclean.

So do you see that? If you BELIEVE you must attend church and YOU do not, then it’s a sin to YOU. The word of God guides us in all the things WE need for OURSELVES. Some need the moral support of stronger Christians and they NEED to go to church but that is for their benefit and not a commandment. We’re dead to the Law. So what laws you’ve set for yourself does not apply to others.

Romans 14:15-23 (ESV2011)
For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding. Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats. It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble. The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves. But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.

Holy Spirit Truth

I was on a forum where people were debating over something some TV preacher had said 15 years ago. I find that the church is so filled with the spirit of division, too busy “defending” their dogma to focus on God, that when a preacher/speaker/teacher says something it’s like they’re bound to it forever with no way to escape to the possibility of growth, maturity or a greater understanding. I’ve listen to people speak for 36 years and my own beliefs and understandings have changed over the years. What I find most irritating is that so many stick to the dogmatic teachings of their denomination instead of what the word of God says, interpreting some passage to mean one thing while someone else interprets it another way. Have you ever noticed that? Why would you think the Holy Spirit would allow such division? Simple, because they don’t ask Him. There is only one Truth and the Holy Spirit is the only way to find it out.

Here’s an example “I” had to go through. I did a chronological study of man from Adam to today using the scriptures as the foundation. Now, in my upbringing I was taught that Abraham left Haran after his father Terah died… funny though, that’s not what the scriptures say, but that’s how it’s interpreted. I had a real problem. The mathematics of the scriptures didn’t support the seeming contradiction of Gen 11-12 and Acts 7:4. Knowing full well there were no contradictions in the scriptures I could not reconcile this issue. It took me two years to find the answer. My study stopped all that time because I could not find the answer. Until I asked the Holy Spirit to sort it out for me. The next day I found (and many won’t like this) the book of Jasher and I read in it how Terah attended the weaning of Isaac. I knew it had to be an error, but the Spirit said read the Greek word for “father” in Acts 7:4. I found out that it also means “father: near or far, ancestor.” The math told me the “father” that died was not Terah but Noah! So I looked for a precedence in the scriptures and God Himself said that Abraham was the father of Jacob to Jacob when in reality he was his grandfather (Gen 28:13).

Still many won’t believe this, and that’s fine. It’s not that important since the puzzle kept me in the word of God. As christians mature, they realize what they knew years ago isn’t necessarily the truth now that they know better. This is why the word of God is alive (not the paper) but the message. The entire written word of God is a map to Jesus from any starting point of the reader. It is not the end of the whole story. But because of pride of so many readers, they reject those that see it from a different angle. It’s like the three blind men describing different part of an elephant, or five people explaining the car accident they all witnessed. Imagine the gems within the holy scriptures we are still discovering today, thousands of years later, like current events of dark matter being found in Genesis, because of its power!

See the thing is, the written word of God takes you to the all powerful, all knowing, all present God Almighty where there is no limit. John says that just the things of what Jesus did here on earth cannot contain the books that would be written about Him. The Holy Spirit knows it all and wants to share that information with the bride-to-be, we just have to ask. So what will happen: heresy! Why? Because there is so much more to God that some refuse to accept it solely because it wasn’t first written in a dusty scroll! Think about it: most of you believe the NT but what of those that never had it but only the OT right after Jesus returned to heaven!

Don’t accept everything everyone says (not even me) but ask the One Who can tell YOU the truth and let the others believe what they want. He is all that matters.

1 John 2:27 (KJV)
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Just a thought.

End-time order of Events

With 41,000 “christian” denominations, it’s no wonder that there will be confusion about the end times and it’s nearly impossible for someone to change their mind once they’ve been settled in that area.

I have two sayings in my signature at work, this one aptly applies:

It is impossible for anyone to learn that which he thinks he already knows.

Why is this so? Because unlike a child, as an adult we think we know it all and it starts as teens and only gets worse.

Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

The problem I see is that everyone picks and chooses based on what they were first taught, or self-taught. But, in all my 36 years as a Christian I have never once heard any sermon that lays out all verses out on the table. Many have tried, many have great ideas, but they still have to leave off a verse or two.

So I throw this out there for you to consider: If all things began in Genesis and all things end in Revelation then it stands to reason that they sort of mirror each other. So let’s start at Genesis and see what transpires (I cannot take the credit I saw on Perry Stone’s show).

Gen 8Dove sent out (Holy Spirit)
Gen 7Shaking of the earth
Gen 6Signs of the days of Noah – violence and evil
Gen 5Rapture of Enoch
Gen 4Cain and his mark
Gen 3Defeat of the serpent
Gen 2Heaven and Earth are perfect
Gen 1Man walks with God

Seems to me, with all the verses of prophecy about the end times, these are the order of events based on the order from scripture in Genesis:

Outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon ALL flesh – Joel 2:28
Earthquakes in various places – Mat 24:7
As in the days of Noah – violence and evil – Mat 24:37
Rapture of the Church – 1 Thes 4:17 (Rev 4:1?)
Mark of the beast – Rev 13:18
Serpent is defeated – Rev 20
Heaven and Earth are perfect – Rev 21
Man walks with God – Rev 22

Just a thought…

Lust

I hope you bear with me on this. I don’t drink alcohol, not because I’m against it, but because for me it’s like drinking medicine. You cannot tempt me with alcohol. Now, put a chocolate chip cookie out there and I’ll fight you for it (j/k). The point is, you cannot be tempted with that which you do not want. Women will never understand the power of a guy’s visual stimulation. So what’s the devil do? He puts every scantily clad girl out there on TV, internet, magazines (and I’m not talking porn here) but just in the supermarket. But here’s the thing, and it works, put it all under the blood. Sounds too spiritual I know, but you are a spiritual being and with repentance and the power of the Blood of Jesus Christ. How? Repentance is to change one’s mind and you’ve already done that because of the condemnation you feel. Now you just have to put the repentance into practice.

Do this practical exercise: take any magazine page and put it on a wall. Get some red paint and paint over it until you cannot read the page. Now that you have this visual process in your mind, recall every inappropriate image you can remember and paint over it in your mind – the “paint” being the Blood of Jesus. Claim in the Name of Jesus to be gone. This will work if you believe. Here’s why it works.

All throughout the scriptures the word says to guard against your thoughts. Jesus said this:

Matthew 5:28 (KJV)
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Jesus equates the sin of adultery with looking on a woman with lust. How so? Well, you see a pretty girl, and in an instance, your MIND is racing scenarios of what she might look like nude, or in compromising positions. This is done on the movie screen of your mind. This causes all kinds of physical reactions, hormonal increases, releasing addictive endorphins … These fantasies rewire your brain so that you can produce these endorphins every time you fantasize and because of that you become more addictive, creating a vicious circle of sin, condemnation, frustration, repentance, sin, condemnation, frustration, repentance, sin, condemnation, frustration, repentance… So why doesn’t the repentance stick? We’re not warring correctly. We can’t do it in the flesh. Read this slowly:

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (KJV)
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds) ; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Your strong-hold (and 99.9999999% of all guys) is this issue of lust in today’s loose society. You must cast down imaginations and every high thought and bring it into captivity (through the blood of Jesus). And when, not if, when the temptations arise, you close your eyes, paint the Blood of Jesus over it and claim the power of His obedience. This is having an active mind and not a passive mind. An active mind is controlling the thoughts you have, focusing all the time on the task at hand. This is why the word says to meditate on the word day and night, why to have a song in your heart, praying without ceasing, they are ways to keep your mind active and focusing on Jesus. This is how you first, submit to God, and resist the devil.

James 4:7-8 (KJV)
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded.

You’re struggling, like we all do, because you’ve not dealt with this sin in your life, and until you do, you’ll always remain in this vicious circle until you either win or surrender and stop trying, searing your conscience with a hot iron. So read these verses and learn what God is trying to say:

Philippians 4:7-9 (KJV)
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

The war you’re going through is the same for everyone, some with alcohol, other with feelings of inadequacies and binging on ice cream until they’re 300 lbs with diabetes. Everyone has a vice, and these tendencies are the meaning to this verse:

Exodus 34:7 (KJV)
Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear [the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth [generation].

Since our parents didn’t deal with their sins, the tendencies towards one or another are in our DNA, scientists have proven this. They’ve also proven that we can rewrite our DNA by doing just what the word of God says to do, have an active mind. Now this only works because you’re a Christian through the Blood of Jesus. There are indeed benefits to the lost too, but they’ll never overcome. So take comfort, it is indeed in your mind just like Paul says:

Romans 7:21-25 (KJV)
I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

I pray this helps, it did me :D that’s why I know it works!
